‘Dubrovačka kolenda’ heralds a new album

Dubrovačka kolenda, the best-known kolenda and the hallmark of Christmas in the south of Croatia, has been recorded in a new guise and is the lead single from the new album “Kolendo, kolendo, veselo, veselo”, which will be released next year by Scardona. The new album is the first full-length collaboration between Klapa Kaše and the HRT Tamburica Orchestra, conducted by Siniša Leopold.

The kolenda project was long in the making: Vicko Dragojević collected and prepared the kolendas for almost a whole decade, while maestro Siniša Leopold rounded it all off with outstanding arrangements for the Tamburica Orchestra. The album was recorded in November 2022 in HRT’s “Mozart” studio, which, along with characteristic shots of decorated Dubrovnik, is also shown in the music video accompanying the release of the song “Dubrovačka kolenda”. The video was directed by Dominik Miljak, and Matko Švarc helped him film the beautiful shots that will carry Dubrovnik’s festive magic all over Croatia.

The new album will be released at the end of next year, just when the kolenda customs begin, and until then everyone can enjoy the new single, singing along with Kaše and the Tamburica Orchestra: “Ođe, ođe, nadobro vam badnja večer dođe!“
